After a penalty‑shootout loss to Inter Milan in Hong Kong, Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo called Enzo Maresca’s style "music to my ears." The Italian, in his first match, displayed the attacking intent City will pursue after replacing Võ Pep Guardiola. Semenyo played the opening 45 minutes, giving Inter full‑back Andy Diouf a torrid time with his pace and direct running, and created Divine Mukasa’s goal. Substitute Ryan Mc Aidoo also impressed, and Maresca praised the "kind of wingers I love" – aggressive, one‑v‑one players.

Semenyo vulavula about his transfer: he joined City from Bournemouth for £65m in January. He finished last season with 21 goals for club and country, scoring the winner in the FA Cup final and lifting the Carabao Cup. He said the move was the next big step, with Pep telling him he would become a better player.

Off the pitch, Semenyo is a devout Christian. He was baptised in December and prays before matches with teammates Jeremy Doku and Marc Guehi, saying faith gives him "maximum strength." He credits God for his talent and mindset, insisting "I owe it to Him."
