Manchester City midfielder Rico Lewis has launched an initiative to combat homelessness in his home city. Lewis, who recently married his wife Ameliia, spoke about his Christian faith and how it has made him more aware of societal suffering.

Driven by this awareness, Lewis teamed up with local rapper Nemzzz to organize a seven-a-side football tournament. The event, held at Manchester's National Speedway Stadium on June 28, aimed to raise money and awareness for homelessness charities. Manchester faces a significant homelessness crisis, with nearly 10,000 people in temporary accommodation.

The tournament attracted notable football talent, including Manchester City's Phil Foden and Manchester United's Shea Lacey. Lewis hopes to make the charity event an annual fixture, aiming to increase donations and impact over time. The midfielder sees this as a way to give back to Manchester and make a positive difference in the community.
