Chelsea captain Reece James has signed a new six-year contract, committing his future to the club until 2032. His previous deal was set to expire in 2028, making this renewal a key priority for the Blues following their takeover. James, a starter in 19 of 26 Premier League appearances this season, has made 225 appearances for Chelsea overall.

He won the Champions League in 2021 and the UEFA Super Cup that same year, alongside the 2025 Conference League and Club World Cup. Named captain three years ago, James has impressed with leadership improvements since early criticism under former coach Enzo Maresca. He aims to earn a place in England's 2026 World Cup squad, having missed the last two tournaments through injury.

He played in the 2025 World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia after a two-year international absence.
