The Ligue de Football Professionnel board made the decision in agreement with Nantes, citing the need to optimize preparation for the high-profile European tie. This marks the second consecutive season PSG has had a Nantes fixture postponed around Champions League knockout matches.

Last year, a similar scheduling adjustment was made when PSG faced Aston Villa in the quarter-finals. The timing of these matches becomes particularly significant given Chelsea's recent 3-0 victory over PSG in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
