Former France midfielder Paul Pogba has left AS Monaco after his contract was terminated following just one season. The 33-year-old, a 2018 World Cup winner, had a deal with the Ligue 1 side until June 2027 but Monaco stated it ended early because objectives set by both parties were only partially achieved. Pogba played six matches for Monaco last season, five as a substitute. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying representing the club was an incredible experience despite limited game time.

Pogba joined Monaco last summer after being cleared to return to professional football following a doping suspension received while at Juventus. He maintained the violation was accidental, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced his ban from four years to 18 months in March 2025. Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro acknowledged the challenge of Pogba's return, noting the enthusiasm it generated even though results fell short of expectations.

BBC Sport reports that Pogba is attracting interest from Major League Soccer, with previous links to DC United and Inter Miami. However, he recently sustained a hamstring injury during Monaco's pre-season training camp in England, which may delay any potential move.
