Real Madrid are in talks with Jose Mourinho's agent about appointing the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss as their next head coach. The 63-year-old, currently at Benfica, has been contacted directly by the Spanish giants and is reportedly demanding full control and a significant say in transfers.

Newcastle and Chelsea are both interested in signing ex-Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, with the 26-year-old Uruguayan potentially leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. Meanwhile, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are all keen on PSG winger Bradley Barcola, the 23-year-old France international.

Atletico Madrid are close to agreeing a deal for Wolves' Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes, 25, worth about £39m. Inter Milan are considering abandoning their pursuit of Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario to strengthen other areas, while Leeds remain favourites to sign Juventus striker Lois Openda. Newcastle are also set to overhaul their recruitment department, appointing scouts to cover new markets such as the Balkans.
