Martinez Red Card: Hair-Pull Incident Rocks Man Utd

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was shown a straight red card in the 56th minute for pulling the hair of Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin during their Premier League clash at Old Trafford. The incident occurred while United trailed 2-0 after Noah Okafor's first-half double.

Referee Paul Tierney initially missed the offense but was instructed by the video assistant referee to review the incident on the pitchside monitor. After the VAR review, Tierney announced to the stadium: "After review, Manchester United 6 is guilty of pulling his hair - violent conduct. Final decision is red card." The Premier League Match Centre later confirmed the red card on social media.

Martinez, making his first Premier League start since February 10 following a calf injury, will now serve a three-match suspension. The sending-off leaves Manchester United to play with 10 men for the remainder of the match, compounding their difficulties against a Leeds side that had already established a two-goal lead.
