Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada insists the club will maintain financial discipline in the summer transfer market, learning from expensive mistakes of past windows. After significant spending on Casemiro, Antony and Jadon Sancho yielded mixed results, United shifted toward a more strategic approach that prioritized early signings and data-driven decisions.

The new model proved successful last summer when United moved quickly to secure Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo before adding Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens. This approach helped United finish third in the Premier League and secure Champions League qualification for the first time in three years. Director of football Jason Wilcox leads the recruitment team alongside Christopher Vivell and Matt Hargreaves.

United have already agreed a £35m deal with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, with the player set to undergo medical checks before pre-season. The club also holds strong interest in West Ham's £80m-rated Mateus Fernandes while seeking striker cover and a left-sided defender to compete with Luke Shaw.

Berrada emphasized that United will not overpay, having already walked away from a potential £120m move for Elliot Anderson. The focus remains on long-term investments rather than short-term fixes, ensuring the club builds sustainably under new ownership.
