Goalkeeper Rafaela Borggrafe has left Liverpool to join Bayer Leverkusen on loan for the remainder of the season. The 25-year-old German international arrived at Liverpool in July from SC Freiburg. She played in four matches for Gareth Taylor's side. This move provides Borggrafe a chance to get regular playing time after a difficult spell.

Borggrafe's time at Liverpool was marred by a six-game ban for using discriminatory language towards a teammate during a pre-season training camp. The Football Association investigated the incident. The arrival of Jennifer Falk on loan further pushed her down the pecking order. Liverpool are currently at the bottom of the Women's Super League standings.

This loan allows Borggrafe to potentially revive her career. She still has another year on her contract with Liverpool. The club will need to address its goalkeeping situation in the summer. Rachael Laws' contract ends and Falk's loan expires. Liverpool is keen on a permanent deal for Falk.

With Borggrafe's departure, Liverpool faces a goalkeeping reshuffle. They must now decide on their future strategy for the position. The team will be looking to improve their position in the Women's Super League. The loan move offers Borggrafe a fresh start and a potential return to form.
