Laura Hughes returns to the Wales squad for Women's World Cup qualifying with the team needing strong results in their final two Group B1 matches. Wales currently trails the Czech Republic on goal difference and must defeat Montenegro to maintain any hope of topping the group and securing a more favorable playoff path later this year.

The 24-year-old, who previously represented Australia, made her Wales debut in December's victory over Switzerland after missing the first two qualifying camps due to a knee injury. Born in Canberra but with Welsh family connections, Hughes committed to Wales after being given the chance by head coach Rhian Wilkinson last year.

Hughes has prepared for the Montenegro match in Porthcawl with family, describing the opposition as "a really tough, aggressive side." The former Melbourne City player, who made only one Wales appearance to date, knows her competitive debut for Wales could prove crucial in their push for a World Cup tournament place.
