Birmingham City have signed goalkeeper Katie Startup on a free transfer following her departure from Manchester City. The 27-year-old was part of the Manchester City squad that secured the Women's Super League title and the Women's FA Cup in the 2025-26 season. Although she did not make an appearance for Manchester City after joining in 2024, Startup was praised for her professionalism and support.

Startup joins newly promoted Birmingham City on what is reportedly a two-year deal, with the club aiming to establish themselves in the WSL. She expressed excitement about working with manager Amy Merricks and director Hope Powell again, having previously collaborated with them for four years at Brighton. "I know they share the same values that I do," Startup stated.

Startup's career includes spells at Charlton Athletic, Brighton, and loan periods at Liverpool and Manchester City. She also had a loan spell at Everton last season before being recalled by Manchester City. Birmingham boss Merricks highlighted Startup's dedication, professionalism, and experience as valuable assets for the team.
