Jamie Donley started as a lone striker in all four Northern Ireland Nations League fixtures, despite preferring the number 10 role. Although he impressed with his link-up play and ability to drop into space, he failed to score in 294 minutes of action. Northern Ireland won twice but played out two goalless home draws against Hungary and Georgia.
Donley, on loan at Luton Town, expressed disappointment at not finding the net but backed manager Michael O'Neill's tactical approach. With Shane Ferguson and Isaac Price also finding chances limited, creating a consistent out-and-out nine remains a challenge for the setup. Donley remains confident in his development and believes he can add goals as he continues to grow internationally.
