Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle stated that Bruno Guimaraes' decision to join Arsenal was finalized before their brief meeting. The midfielder's £75m move to Arsenal is nearing completion after a breakthrough in negotiations. Jaissle, who recently took over as head coach, acknowledged the departure of a "fantastic player and a great human being," noting that while it's a tough loss, the club must move forward.

Guimaraes becomes the fourth significant player to leave Newcastle in under a year, following departures of Gordon, Tonali, and Isak. Despite warnings from club legend Alan Shearer about a "tough season," Jaissle views the club's rebuild as an opportunity to create a "young, hungry side." He emphasized focusing on "controllables" and fostering progress.

Newcastle has adopted a new recruitment strategy, targeting younger players from the Continent, with their recent signings averaging 24 years of age. The club has invested approximately £146m in these new additions. Jaissle, a 38-year-old manager, is embracing the challenge of managing in the Premier League for the first time after successful stints in Saudi Arabia and Austria. Newcastle's season begins against Liverpool on 23 August.
