Northern Ireland goalkeeper Jackie Burns, 29, has signed with Burnley in the Women's Super League 2 after leaving Bristol City. While continuing as her country's number one keeper, she is already preparing for life beyond football.

Over her 15-year career, Burns has played internationally in Iceland, Canada, and Sweden, facing both on-field and off-pitch challenges. She aims to transition into a player-care role, supporting athletes through their careers rather than focusing on tactics.

Burns emphasized the importance of feeling valued as a person, citing difficulties like securing housing and transportation when moving abroad. Her decision to join Burnley was influenced by the club's support for her post-playing ambitions.

'I want to feel heard as a person,' Burns said. 'Having someone to help with basic needs makes the experience much easier for players.' She hopes to use her experience to help others settle into new environments smoothly.
