Ipswich Town Names Gary O'Neil, Ex-Strasbourg Boss, as New Manager

Ipswich Town announced Gary O'Neil as manager, signing a three‑year deal after he left Strasbourg. The 43‑year‑old replaces Kieran Mc Kenna, who stepped down earlier this month.

O'Neil’s move cost the club about 5m euros (£4.3m) plus add‑ons, as he had two years left on his contract. He guided Strasbourg to eighth in Ligue 1 and a Conference League semi‑final, a first for the French side.

Mc Kenna had steadied the Tractor Boys into the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship. Ipswich now eyes survival in the top flight, opening the season against Sunderland on 22 August.

With a new backroom team of Tim Jenkins and Neil Critchley, O'Neil vows to bring ambition and a clear style to the club. Ipswich’s return to the Premier League hinges on the new regime’s ability to strengthen the squad and secure points.
