IFR Issues Warning for Morecambe

The independent football regulator has issued a warning notice to Morecambe after their owners failed to respond to requests about the club’s operation. This is dot's first IFR action since the Football Governance Act became law a year ago. Morecambe directors Kuljit Singh and Harjit Singh ignored two information requests under section 65 of the Act.

The IFR statement said it has been provisionally determined the owners breached information requirements without reasonable excuse مد Therefore the IFR is minded to issue a censure statement against the individuals and the club. A censure gives the IFR the right to name clubs, owners, directors or senior executives who fail licensing standards.

Other powers include financial penalties, court injunctions, and suspension or revocation of a club’s operating licence. The IFR’s remit covers clubs in the National League. Although Morecambe were relegated to the National League North last season, the IFR can enforce its regulations. The club was bought out of administration in August by the Panjab Warriors consortium.

In March a transfer embargo was imposed over a disputed payment to former owners Bond Group Investments, later lifted. That month a winding‑up petition over unpaid supplier bills was served but eventually resolved.
