Heart of Midlothian have announced the imminent departure of goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow and the arrival of his replacement, Beau Reus. Schwolow, 34, is returning to his native Germany with Mainz on 1 August after one season at Tynecastle, where he made 33 appearances and kept 15 clean sheets as the club finished runners‑up in the Scottish Premiership.

Dutchman Reus, 24, has been signed as a free agent on a three‑year contract after four seasons with Belgian side Beveren. Standing at 6ft 6in, he helped Beveren win the Challenger Pro League title last term. Former Freiburg and Hertha Berlin keeper Schwolow is leaving for an undisclosed fee, with Hearts describing him as a "much-valued member of the squad" but agreeing to his request to move closer to home.

With Craig Gordon retiring and Liam Mc Farlane joining Partick Thistle on loan, Ryan Fulton and Zander Clark remain as the other goalkeepers with first‑team experience available to new head coach Wouter Vrancken.
