Hearts have finalized a pre-contract for Josh McPake, bringing the St Johnstone winger to Tynecastle on a three-year deal this summer. The 21-year-old has been in fine form, netting 15 goals this season. Manager Derek McInnes is also pushing to accelerate the signing of Ugandan forward Rogers Mato, currently at Vardar, after a pre-contract was agreed earlier this week.

McInnes admits he lacks control over the timing but confirmed the club is trying to bring Mato's arrival forward. He described the 22-year-old as a 'brilliant young talent' eager to join. The push for reinforcements comes as Hearts face a midfield crisis ahead of Sunday's crucial match against Celtic. Beni Baningime is suspended, and Cammy Devlin limped off in their recent win over St Mirren.

Despite mounting injury concerns, Hearts are enjoying a remarkable campaign, sitting six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership. McInnes praised the club's smart recruitment and dressing room culture for allowing them to compete financially superior rivals. With 16 games remaining, the club is focused on maintaining momentum as they chase a European spot, a stark contrast to recent seasons.
