Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart returned to his hometown club Shrewsbury Town as a stand-in coach for Tuesday's 2-1 victory at Salford City. The 38-year-old Match of the Day pundit stepped in after manager Gavin Cowan called his former Salop team-mate asking for recommendations following Brian Jensen's departure.

Hart, who started his career with Shrewsbury in 2003 before moving to Manchester City for £1.5m, used his trophy-laden experience to help goalkeepers Matthew Cox and Will Brook. "It was a lot of fun," Hart said, emphasizing he wanted to use everything he'd learned without interfering with the club's rebuilding process under Cowan.

The victory extended Shrewsbury's winning run to five matches and lifted them to 17th place in League Two, 12 points clear of relegation. Cowan called Hart's contribution "a breath of fresh air," with the former Manchester City star volunteering his services to help his hometown club during their remarkable turnaround under new management.
