Hamilton Academical plan to return to New Douglas Park next season after playing at Broadwood Stadium this term. The Lanarkshire club ended their lease dispute with ground owners, signing a two-year deal with an option to extend. The move comes as new owners Morley Sports Management Group aim to reignite the club's presence in the local community.

Rob Edwards' ownership group bought the troubled club in January after 18 turbulent months involving multiple points deductions and relegation from the Championship. Players had threatened strike action over unpaid wages as the club fought insolvency. Some supporters boycotted games at the temporary 15-mile away ground during the team's struggles.

Currently second bottom of League 1 with a 21-point deduction for rule breaches, Hamilton faces significant challenges. The club's statement acknowledged the ground's importance to supporters, saying the return is "about coming home." The move to restore their home base represents a crucial step in rebuilding the club's identity and connection with fans.
