Ghana have been drawn against Ivory Coast in Group C of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, creating a heavyweight clash early in the campaign. The Black Stars missed the top seed after their FIFA ranking fell following the missed tournament in Morocco, while the Elephants retain a strong pedigree from their 2022 triumph.

Group C also features The Gambia, who impressed by reaching the 2021 quarter‑finals on debut, and Somalia, returning after a long absence. Twelve groups of four will contest six rounds, with the two highest placed teams qualifying. Co‑hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are guaranteed spots, meaning only one additional side from each of their groups can advance.

Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia now face narrow margins after being paired with the host nations, while Kenya’s group includes Eritrea’s first qualifying campaign since 2008. Fixtures commence in September 2026 and conclude in March 2027, setting a tight calendar for the 48‑team field. Ghana and Ivory Coast must secure points early if they hope to avoid a playoff.

In Group L, Nigeria meets Tanzania, Madagascar and Guinea‑Bissau, leaving little room for error as the Super Eagles chase a top‑two finish.
