Everton are on the verge of signing Chelsea winger Tyrique George after his loan spell ended last season. The 20‑year‑old featured in 11 games for the Merseyside club, starting once, and impressed David Moyes with his work‑rate. Everton have restructured the original £25m option‑to‑buy into a lower upfront fee plus performance add‑ons. The deal could be sealed before the summer deadline, pending medicals.

Moyes praised George as “an excellent boy” and hinted a permanent deal would suit Everton’s rebuild under the new manager. The club is simultaneously finalising a £16m acquisition for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney and planning to make Merlin Rohl’s loan from Freiburg permanent. Departures this summer include Idrissa Gana Gueye and Seamus Coleman, freeing wage space for fresh signings. They should add depth up front.

Chelsea continue their squad overhaul under Xabi Alonso, offloading players to shrink a ten‑man roster after a 10th‑place finish. With UEFA settlement constraints limiting spending, the Blues are fielding offers for Enzo Fernandez and Trevoh Chalobah while the futures of Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana remain uncertain. Tyrique George therefore represents Everton’s most immediate acquisition as the transfer window closes.
