Swansea City head coach Vitor Matos says winger Eom Jisung has the strength to move on from alleged racial abuse that marred his side's 1-0 win at Millwall. The Metropolitan Police are investigating after Swansea's staff reported alleged abuse aimed at the South Korea international at The Den on Tuesday.

Matos said Eom, 24, "feels supported" at Swansea following an incident he described as "sad for everyone, either in football or in society." "You have a behaviour that unfortunately nowadays still happens in the world we live in," the head coach said. "We have a tool to fight against that. We used that [by reporting the allegation]; now he's moving on."

The manager stressed that Eom, as an adult, understands the need to speak out about such situations. "You complain about the situation, and you have the strength as well to move on - that's how we should handle it," Matos said.

Matos also said officials at Millwall "did really well to follow the protocol" after the abuse was reported in the second half. The game was paused for around seven minutes before resuming. Asked what he expects next, Matos hoped the investigation would reach a conclusion, allowing everyone to be informed and Millwall to decide what action to take.
