Elgin City Suspends Manager Hale Amid Investigation

Elgin City have suspended first-team manager Allan Hale with immediate effect pending an investigation. The Scottish League 2 club released no further details regarding the decision, which comes days after Elgin finished sixth in the fourth tier without a win in their final five matches following a 1-0 home defeat by Stranraer.

Hale took charge in December 2023 when the club sat near the foot of League 2 and successfully steered them away from relegation. The 38-year-old former Fraserburgh player, who previously managed Huntly and Keith in the Highland League, arrived alongside assistant Stefan Laird to guide Elgin to a sixth-place finish.

The announcement comes one day after Elgin confirmed contract extensions for defender Miko Virtanen and midfielder Brian Cameron. The club also revealed goalkeeper Thomas McHale's departure to Nairn County after eight years and the release of six other players as they await the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
