DR Congo Chile Friendly Cancelled Over Ebola

DR Congo's friendly against Chile scheduled for June 9 in Spain has been cancelled after authorities raised health concerns over the Ebola outbreak in the African nation. Mayor Juan Franco of La Linea de la Concepcion signed a decree preventing the match from proceeding, citing recommendations from the regional health service as a "precautionary measure" given potential health risks.

The decision comes as DR Congo currently trains in Belgium after cancelling their pre-tournament camp in Kinshasa due to Ebola in the country's east. While none of the players have recently visited DR Congo, the team faces complications as the US has banned entry from anyone who has been in DR Congo, Uganda or South Sudan in the past 21 days.

Despite the challenges, DR Congo remains focused on their World Cup debut after qualifying for the first time since 1974. They will face Denmark on Wednesday before beginning their Group K campaign against Portugal on June 17 in Houston, with matches against Colombia in Guadalajara and Uzbekistan in Atlanta to follow.
