Doncaster Rovers have secured goalkeeper Josh Clarke on loan from Partick Thistle, with a permanent move to the League One club planned for January. The 21-year-old Northern Ireland U-21 international recently joined Thistle permanently from Celtic but will now head to England.

Clarke made 42 appearances for Partick Thistle last season, keeping 14 clean sheets as the club finished second in the Scottish Championship. Despite his performances, Thistle ultimately failed to secure promotion to the Premiership.

Partick Thistle's sporting director, Ian Baraclough, stated that a clause was included in Clarke's contract allowing a move to a club like Doncaster if the opportunity arose. Thistle's head coach, Mark Wilson, acknowledged the loss but recognized it as a significant career step for the player. The club also confirmed a permanent two-year deal for right-back Ben McPherson, who also moved from Celtic.
