Dembele muscle strain raises PSG injury worries ahead of UCL final

PSG revealed on Monday that forward Ousmane Dembele will undergo treatment over the coming days for a muscle strain in his right calf. The 29-year-old Ballon d'Or winner was substituted during Sunday's 2-1 Ligue 1 defeat to Paris FC, with striker Goncalo Ramos replacing him in the first half of the match.

Head coach Luis Enrique initially suggested the change came down to fatigue rather than injury. However, the club's statement clarified that the substitution was a precautionary measure after the strain was identified, casting doubt over his readiness for the Champions League final against Arsenal on 30 May.

Dembele also features in the 26-man France squad for the World Cup, which kicks off on 11 June. A key attacker sidelined at this stage of the season adds pressure to PSG's preparations heading into two massive matches in quick succession.

PSG must now manage Dembele's workload carefully as they prepare to face Arsenal in Budapest, with the midfielder's recovery timeline still uncertain heading into the final.
