Carrick's Magic Revives United Spirit

Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha believes interim boss Michael Carrick possesses the "magic" that can reconnect the club to its successful Sir Alex Ferguson era. Cunha's opening goal against Liverpool helped secure a 3-2 victory and Champions League qualification with three games to spare, an achievement many doubted was possible this season.

Carrick has engineered 10 victories in 14 games since taking charge, putting him in strong position to be appointed permanently. The 44-year-old was part of Ferguson's final great United side, winning five Premier League titles and a Champions League. United still need four points to guarantee a top-three finish, which would be only the fifth time since Ferguson retired in 2013.

The £62.5m summer signing from Wolves has flourished at Old Trafford, scoring nine goals including winners against Arsenal and Chelsea. Cunha remains uncertain about Casemiro's future despite the midfielder's apparent departure being confirmed, saying "we don't know in the end how it is with his contract" while acknowledging his importance to the squad.
