Burnley's Scott Parker Admits Season Failure Amid Relegation Battle

Burnley manager Scott Parker has acknowledged that the Clarets' season 'might be seen as a failure' with relegation looming. The 45-year-old admitted that 'in real short-sightedness you can see that maybe this year has been a failure, it has been a failure to this point.' Parker's comments come as Burnley struggle near the bottom of the Premier League table.

In October, Burnley sat five points clear of the relegation zone above Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham United. However, their fortunes quickly reversed. Just two weeks later, Burnley led West Ham 1-0 in the 45th minute at London Stadium, poised to move six points clear of the bottom three. Instead, they suffered a devastating 3-2 defeat that derailed their momentum.

Despite the disappointing campaign, Parker emphasized his focus on 'the bigger picture' and developing young players. The former England midfielder returned Burnley to the Premier League at the first attempt last season after taking over from Vincent Kompany. With relegation now looking likely, Parker faces the challenge of maintaining team morale while preparing for a potential return to the Championship.
