Belloumi Heroics Send Hull to Wembley Final After Injury Hell

Mohamed Belloumi proved his worth as a substitute as Hull City beat Millwall 2-0 in the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final to secure a place in the final. The winger, who had started on the bench due to fatigue in both his hamstrings and Achilles, came on in the second half and scored the opening goal.

It has been a difficult two seasons for the 25-year-old since joining from Portuguese side Farense in August 2024. An ACL injury at Oxford in November ended his first campaign, and when he returned last August the club had already changed managers twice, with Tim Walter and Ruben Selles departing before Jakirovic took over. Two subsequent hamstring injuries then kept him out for four months of this campaign.

Manager Jakirovic praised the decision to bring him on, while captain Lewie Coyle hailed both the match-winner and the club's medical staff. Hull now face either Sheffield United or Sunderland in the final at Wembley on 25 May, with the winner earning promotion to the Premier League.
