### Barcelona chose Gordon over Rashford for Flick's system

Barcelona sporting director Deco explained why Anthony Gordon was preferred over Marcus Rashford despite Rashford's strong loan spell last season. Gordon joined from Newcastle in a deal worth over 80m euros (£69.3m), while Rashford returned to Manchester United after declining a permanent £30.3m offer. Deco said Gordon's style better fits Hansi Flick's tactical needs, particularly providing energy when Raphinha is absent.

Barcelona analysed multiple Premier League wingers before deciding on Gordon, who has made five appearances with four assists. The club has won all four La Liga games this season, scoring 17 goals and conceding two. Deco praised Rashford's contribution but confirmed Gordon addressed a key weakness in squad intensity.
