Eberechi Eze's excellent strike proved decisive as Arsenal beat Newcastle 1-0 to move three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. The win ended a two-game losing streak that had seen the Gunners slip to second place for the first time since October.

Mikel Arteta's side were under huge pressure coming into this match after City's midweek victory. "We talked about game one and how important that was," Arteta said. "We did the job." Opta gives Arsenal a 72.44% chance of lifting the trophy, though City will have two games in hand.

The victory was far from comfortable – Arsenal's xG of just 0.64 was their second-lowest at the Emirates this season. Both Kai Havertz and Eze picked up muscular problems, though Arteta hopes they'll be fit for Wednesday's Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid. Players celebrated desperately at the final whistle, with relief evident across the team.
