Manchester City have sealed a deal with Nottingham Forest to bring 23‑year‑old England midfielder Elliot Anderson to the Etihad. The transfer fee could rise to a British record £130m, surpassing Liverpool’s payment for Alexander Isak. Anderson, who joined Forest for £35m from Newcastle in 2024, will now undergo a medical before finalising the move and will be registered for the upcoming season.

The midfielder logged 88 appearances and four goals for Forest, helping the club finish seventh in 2024‑25 before slipping to 16th and reaching the Europa League semi‑finals last season. Forest had rebuffed two earlier City bids, insisting on a fee that reflected Anderson’s rising profile. They now target Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall and Inter’s Davide Frattesi to rebuild as they plan a summer spending spree.

Anderson will travel to the World Cup later this week, focusing on England’s final Group L match against Panama. He told BBC Sport he is blocking out transfer talk to concentrate on the tournament. With the record fee confirmed, City add a versatile box‑to‑box option, while Forest expect the cash to fund their midfield overhaul and strengthens Pep Guardiola’s tactical flexibility.
