Originally diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2015, Carr demonstrated remarkable resilience by running the Dublin Marathon in 2024, raising over £2,000 for charity. The Hemel Hempstead native played for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Reading before earning a football scholarship in the United States. At the time of her first diagnosis, she was playing professionally for IL Sandviken in Norway.

Carr's career also included coaching roles in Milton Keynes after her playing days. Both the England team and her former club Chelsea expressed their condolences on social media, with Chelsea describing themselves as "saddened" by the news. Her former clubs and teammates remember Carr not only for her contributions on the pitch but for her courage and dedication to raising awareness about brain tumour research.
