Chelsea suffered a familiar defensive collapse in a 2-2 draw with Hull, extending their winless run to 20 league matches. Despite attacking talent from Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer, the Blues conceded two or more goals for the first time in 11 years. Manager Xabi Alonso experimented with formations, switching from a back three to a back four, but admitted the issues predate his arrival.

Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic praised Emiliano Martinez as man of the match. Ashley Williams criticized the team's transition defending, calling the errors "basic." Alonso stressed the need for more control and solidity, stating the team is "not happy" with the performance. With new players and staff, he believes improvements will come in "a few months." Concerns remain ahead of a trip to Brentford before the international break.
