Alex Jimenez, the suspended Bournemouth defender, has joined Fiorentina on a season-long loan with a 20m euros (£17m) option to make the move permanent. The 21-year-old Spanish international can continue playing while his parent club investigates social media allegations.

Jimenez was dropped from Bournemouth's first team in May over a "serious matter" involving "posts circulating on social media." The Cherries wished him well for the season ahead as he links up with the Serie A side. He initially arrived on loan from AC Milan before signing permanently in February on a contract running until 2031.

The Spain Under-21s international made 32 appearances for Bournemouth last season, scoring once. The loan allows him to maintain match fitness while the investigation proceeds, with Fiorentina holding a purchase option that could see the move become permanent.
