Ardian Targets €3bn Nordic Data‑Centre Build‑out via Verne

Ardian plans to channel more than €3bn into a pan‑Nordic data‑centre platform via its 2024‑acquired portfolio company Verne. The firm will expand Verne’s footprint across Finland, Norway and Denmark, positioning it to meet surging demand from artificial‑intelligence, cloud and streaming operators that rely on cheap, renewable power.

Verne already operates more than 110 MW of capacity in Finland, with additional sites slated for delivery by late 2027 or early 2028. The expansion targets 200 MW in Norway by 2029 and 350 MW in Denmark, tripling the company’s footprint as Nordic power costs remain among the lowest in the world.

Nordic regions offer abundant renewable energy and naturally cool climates, cutting cooling costs that otherwise dominate data‑centre budgets. Bloomberg Intelligence projects power demand in the Nordics to rise fourfold by 2032, making the region a prime target for investors seeking to lock in low‑cost, carbon‑friendly infrastructure.

By scaling Verne into a pan‑Nordic platform, Ardian positions itself at the forefront of Europe’s digital‑infrastructure race, reinforcing domestic data sovereignty while capitalising on the region’s cost advantages. The move signals a shift toward large‑scale, renewable‑powered data centres that could reshape investment flows across the continent.
