Private Equity Deals

Blackstone secured a $1.2 billion credit facility for Air Trunk's expansion into Japanese data centers, part of a broader push by private equity into AI infrastructure assets across Asia-Pacific. Meanwhile, KKR completed its $3.4 billion acquisition of a majority stake in India's Reliance Retail Ventures, marking the largest PE deal in South Asian retail history. In Europe, CVC Capital closed a €2.5 billion fund focused on healthcare technology investments, with initial commitments already deployed to three portfolio companies.

Technology Acquisitions

Google's acquisition of Wiz for $32 billion represents the largest cybersecurity purchase ever, with the Israeli startup's 2024 revenue projected at just $100 million. The deal values Wiz at 320x revenue, far exceeding typical Saa S acquisition multiples. Index Ventures' Shardul Shah noted the transaction reflects Big Tech's urgency to secure cloud infrastructure as AI workloads expand. Separately, Thoma Bravo agreed to buy cybersecurity firm Sail Point for $6.9 billion, a 30% premium to its pre-announcement share price.

Infrastructure Investments

Global Infrastructure Partners acquired a 49% stake in VTG Rail's European operations for €1.8 billion, betting on freight rail's role in reducing logistics emissions. The deal includes options to expand into Eastern European markets where rail networks are undergoing modernization. In renewable energy, Brookfield Asset Management committed $2.3 billion to offshore wind projects in the North Sea, targeting 3 gigawatts of new capacity by 2028. These investments come as governments accelerate permitting for clean energy infrastructure to meet 2030 climate targets.

Venture Capital Activity

Sequoia Capital led a $450 million Series D round in AI chipmaker Cerebras Systems, valuing the company at $4.2 billion post-money. The funding will support production scaling of Cerebras' wafer-scale processors, which compete with NVIDIA in specialized AI workloads. In biotech, ARCH Venture Partners co-led a $280 million Series B in Verve Therapeutics, advancing its gene-editing therapies for cardiovascular disease. The round included participation from T. Rowe Price and funds managed by BlackRock, highlighting growing institutional interest in longevity-focused healthcare investments.
