The office, long shrouded in secrecy, had been imagined by many Hungarians as a lavish den befitting a leader who consolidated power over 14 years. But the reality proved underwhelming: functional furniture, sparse decoration, and no obvious luxuries.

Magyar's team had anticipated that exposing the space would underscore Orbán's excesses. The muted surroundings, however, offered little visual ammunition, leaving officials to concede the symbolism fell flat.

The episode highlights the challenge of dismantling a political narrative built on perception. With Orbán's influence still pervasive, the new administration must find more substantive evidence to sway public opinion.
