Leclerc to Adopt Hamilton's Brake Setup After Monaco Crash

Charles Leclerc blamed a brake failure for his high‑speed wall impact at Monaco, saying three of four brakes were ineffective and the rear units produced no deceleration. The Monegasque pointed to a mismatch in brake feel rather than the resurfaced tarmac as the primary cause. He now plans to mirror Lewis Hamilton's configuration for Barcelona.

Hamilton switched to Carbone Industrie discs last season, favoring a more immediate bite. Both drivers still run Brembo pads and calipers, but Leclerc stuck with standard Brembo discs at Suzuka before the failure. Rear‑brake cooling issues also plagued him in Montreal, suggesting temperature differentials contributed to the spin.

Ferrari will test the revised setup ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, expecting modest gains rather than a radical overhaul. Team engineers hope the change will improve rear‑brake stability and overall corner consistency, addressing the frustration that lingered through Monaco. The adjustment signals a clear shift toward Hamilton’s preferred braking philosophy.
