Crawford’s patience has been tested while serving as an Aston Martin test driver for two seasons. Despite his Red Bull junior background, he couldn't displace the established Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll lineup for a race drive. He also held exploratory talks with the incoming Cadillac team, though that partnership didn't materialize, leaving his immediate future in the feeder series.

With the current F1 grid locked tight, 2027 represents a wave of potential contract expirations and team shake-ups. Crawford is banking on that turnover to finally open a door. His focus now shifts to dominating the F2 championship next year to keep his name at the top of team shortlists when those seats become available.
