Leonardo Fornaroli, 21‑year‑old Formula 2 champion, will run a two‑day test in the former Haas car at Jerez on Wednesday and Thursday. The session is part of a Testing of Previous Cars programme that lets drivers gauge older machinery before the next season. Fornaroli eyes a 2027 F1 seat, scouting talent ahead of the next season.

After debuting in McLaren’s FP1 at Barcelona, Fornaroli finished fifth, 0.8 seconds shy of George Russell. Andrea Stella praised the driver’s “attitude, speed and consistency,” noting he could be an F1 asset. McLaren remains open to future drives while also pursuing other F1 opportunities for the young Italian as the grid prepares for a new generation of talent in 2027.

Ryo Hirakawa, Haas’s reserve driver, will also take to the track, giving the Japanese driver a chance to compare lap times and setups. The Jerez outing lets both teams assess how 2023 chassis perform under current conditions, potentially informing decisions for future constructor entries or driver line‑ups as the sport recalibrates driver contracts and technical regulations ahead of next season.
