Alpine has once again condemned online abuse following Franco Colapinto’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix crash, which triggered a pile-up involving Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris. The incident sparked a fresh wave of hateful comments targeting drivers, stewards, and teams. Colapinto received a drive-through penalty earlier in the season for overtaking under double yellows at Zandvoort, drawing abuse from Argentinian fans.

Gasly also faced threats, including to his family, after refusing to let Colapinto pass in Madrid. In Baku, Colapinto lost control at a safety car restart, eliminating both Gasly and Norris. Norris called for a ban, though he didn’t name Colapinto, yet still became a target of abuse.

Alpine’s statement emphasized that abuse is universal and not tied to any fanbase. The team stands with Formula One and the FIA in efforts to eliminate online hostility. Team principal Flavio Briatore reportedly threatened to cut media access to Colapinto if abuse continued.

Alpine reaffirmed its commitment to tackling digital abuse and promoting healthy rivalry.
