OpenAI has banned accounts linked to an Iran-origin influence operation known as "IUVM". This network leveraged AI to generate and translate pro-Iran, anti-Israel, and anti-US website content, targeting global audiences primarily in English and French.

The operation used OpenAI's models to create and proofread articles, headlines, and website tags. This content was then published on IUVM's current website, iuvmpress.co, with earlier domains seized by the FBI in 2020. Articles were typically generated the day before publication, while website tags were created shortly before, suggesting automation. In one instance, a model's response message was found within the website tags, indicating potential automation or oversight.

The generated content focused on criticizing the US and Israel while promoting Palestinians, Iran, and the "Axis of Resistance." OpenAI assessed this operation as a Category 2 on the Breakout Scale, characterized by multi-platform posting but limited audience engagement. Associated domains identified include iuvmpress.co and iuvmarchive.org.
