Paris Smalls, founder of Eden Geo Power, is testing a revolutionary technique to break subterranean rocks using electricity. In a field test near a Boston suburb, high-voltage pulses are sent through electrodes to create a spiderweb of fractures in hard, marbled rock. This process, known as electrical reservoir stimulation, aims to create conduits for water to reach iron-bearing minerals.

This technique could enable 'timulated geologic hydrogen,' turning rock formations into giant hydrogen factories. By injecting water into iron-rich rock, the minerals oxidize to release hydrogen. While traditional clean hydrogen production via electrolysis is currently too expensive, this method could unlock a new category of energy production.

While researchers have documented widespread hydrogen deposits, none have yet proven capable of commercial-scale production. However, proponents like Douglas Wicks suggest that if hydrogen is a chemical reaction, it can be stimulated. If successful, this technology could provide nearly unlimited energy for the future.
