V-Color's Fake RAM Memory Kits

V-Color has launched 1+1 value packs containing one real memory module and one dummy module amid the global memory shortage that has made quality RAM extremely expensive for most consumers. The "1+1 value packs" allow builders to achieve the look of a dual-module setup even when purchasing only one real module, addressing both aesthetic concerns and budget constraints during the ongoing memory crisis.

The new kits target AMD systems with DDR5-6400 speeds, available in 16GB (Manta Sky) and 24GB (Manta XFinity) configurations. While designed specifically for AMD platforms, the company should highlight Ryzen chips with 3D V-Cache like the Ryzen 7 9850XD or Ryzen 7 9800X3D, whose large L3 cache helps offset single-channel memory performance drawbacks.

Despite their visual appeal, these kits don't match true dual-channel performance. Benchmarks show measurable performance regression compared to optimized dual-channel configurations, though the impact varies by application. While V-Color plans 2+2 configurations in the future, the kits currently represent a compromise between aesthetics and performance during the memory shortage.
