OpenRCT2 version v0.5.1 "Swamp Castle" is now available, bringing a collection of bug fixes and plugin API enhancements to the open-source roller coaster construction game. The update adds ride-breakdown hooks, gridline visibility methods, and an entertained guest statistic while resolving rendering glitches and crash issues across multiple platforms.

Several graphical and gameplay issues have been addressed, including coaster train positioning errors in tunnels, scenery labeling problems in the tile inspector, and keyboard connectivity crashes. The team also fixed stat display overflow issues and corrected guest navigation behavior. An overview video from community contributor Deurklink highlights the release's notable changes.

This marks the final release officially supporting Windows 7 and 8, as GitHub will discontinue action runners for these legacy platforms. Microsoft ended support for these operating systems years ago, prompting the development team to recommend users upgrade for security reasons. The 75.5 MiB Windows build comes with proper code signing.

The project credits sponsors including Digital Ocean, Backtrace, JetBrains, and GitHub for infrastructure and development support. Users interested in contributing can join the Discord community or sponsor individual team members directly through GitHub sponsorships.
