When the poster contest was originally formed in 2024, the use of AI was permitted if explained as part of the application process. However, we recognize that AI has changed, and we will reevaluate rules for 2027, which will prohibit AI. We remain committed to celebrating Ohio artists, with other competitions that don’t permit AI, including the fine arts exhibition, creative arts competitions, mural contest, and plein air painting.

The 2026 Poster Contest asked artists to incorporate a patriotic theme to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Among 38 entries, the top five posters will be displayed in the Creative Arts Exhibits in Kasich Hall during the 171st Ohio State Fair.

Winners: First Place – Christin Billips, Westerville; Second – Gene Strickland, Columbus; Third – Lisa Oliver, Reynoldsburg; Fourth – Lindsay Boyd, Lewis Center; Fifth – Nikki Smetters, Hilliard. All five finalists’ artwork can be viewed below.

Guidelines allow professional and amateur Ohio residents, 18+, one entry, family‑friendly, patriotic theme, related to the Ohio State Fair. Size 24×36 inches portrait, electronic submission in JPG or PDF. Top five entries receive recognition; the Grand Champion gets $1,000, ribbons, social‑media recognition, daily fair access, and tickets.
