Morten Linderud announced his resignation as a package maintainer and developer of Arch Linux, noting that it has been almost a decade since he first met fellow contributors at 33C3 and nearly 9 years since he became a maintainer. He said it is time to let go and shared an internal email outlining responsibilities others can take over. He highlighted that mkinitcpio and arch‑install‑scripts currently lack an active maintainer.

Linderud also listed orphaned packages for which he is the sole maintainer, including fsverity‑utils, flatpak‑xdg‑utils, pesign, libmakepkg‑dropins, wpa_supplicant, and all tpm2 packages, urging the community to adopt them. Additionally, he noted packages that need co‑maintainers such as arch‑install‑scripts, archlinux‑contrib, archlinux‑keyring, archlinux‑repro, debugedit, mkinitcpio, mkinitcpio‑busybox, bolt, nvme‑cli, crun, gopls, go‑tools, pacman, and sbctl.
