Hologram v0.7.0 marks a major milestone in the Elixir-to-JavaScript porting initiative, dramatically expanding browser-side capabilities. The release pushes Erlang runtime coverage from 34% to 96% and overall Elixir standard library readiness from 74% to 87%, thanks to 150 newly ported functions across 19 modules.

This achievement stems from a collaborative effort involving 49 contributors who completed 228 out of 238 Phase 1 functions needed for full-stack web applications. The expanded coverage enables client-side execution of critical Elixir functions including string processing, collections, math operations, Unicode normalization, and file path handling. Beyond porting, the release delivers performance improvements, cross-platform compatibility enhancements, and foundational infrastructure for future features like client-side ETS.

The porting initiative, launched in November 2025 with just 92 ported functions, demonstrates the growing maturity of Hologram as a viable platform for full-stack Elixir development. With process-related modules deferred to Phase 2, the current release provides developers with the majority of standard library functions needed for browser-based applications, significantly reducing the gap between server-side and client-side Elixir capabilities.
